Untangle your identity from your work, without becoming less ambitious.
You can technically take a break… but you don’t actually feel good while you’re taking it.
You say yes when you want to say no because disappointing someone feels worse than overcommitting yourself.
A bad outcome doesn’t just feel disappointing. Somehow, it starts to feel like it says something about you.
You’re great at celebrating everyone else, but when you accomplish something, you immediately move the goalpost to “Okay, what’s next?”
You’ve gotten so used to being the capable one, the reliable one, the one who figures it out… that you’re not quite sure who you are when nobody needs anything from you.
You know (intellectually) that your worth isn’t determined by what you accomplish. You’re just not sure your nervous system got the memo.
If you nodded at one… or three… Work + Worth was made for you.
The goal isn’t to make you less ambitious. It’s to make ambition a lot more fun when your worth isn’t riding shotgun.
So you can want more without being less until you get it.
So disappointment doesn't have to become diminishment.
So feedback can be feedback instead of an identity crisis.
So rest doesn't have to be earned.
One lesson, one tool, one Worth Experiment to carry through your week.
A quick pulse on where your sense of value went looking for proof.
Live Zoom coaching with your cohort. The real work, together, in real time. 1 PM EST.
A short voice memo picking up a thread from something that surfaced in the Room.
The ritual that closes every week... proof of worth that owes nothing to output.
No streaks. No scores. No performance to keep up. Just a receipt that says the balance was always paid.
Four weeks to move your worth out of the outcome and back where it belongs.
We'll uncover the hidden ways achievement, approval, productivity, and being needed can become evidence that you're "good enough." You'll start noticing your proving behaviors.
"What would I do if I had nothing to prove?"
If the finish line keeps moving, you never actually get to arrive. We'll rethink perfectionism, rest, impossible standards, and the pressure to give everything your maximum effort.
"What does enough look like... before exhaustion decides for you?"
You don't need to become less driven. You need ambition that isn't responsible for proving your worth, so you can want more without believing you are less.
"Am I driven for worth, or driven by worth?"
Your career can be an important part of your life without becoming the whole thing. You'll build your Identity Portfolio and intentionally invest more of yourself in the relationships, joy, curiosity, creativity, community, rest, and experiences that make you you.
"What am I building this life around now?"
Go after the promotion. Build the thing. Make the money.
Just don't let self-worth ride shotgun on every outcome.
You'll move from “I prove my value through what I produce” to “I know my value, so I can choose how I want to work.”
I’m Colene, and I’m a recovering overachiever.
For a long time, being good at what I did wasn’t just something I was proud of. It became part of how I knew I was okay.
I liked being the capable one. The dependable one. The person who could figure it out, handle it, and get it done. I collected accomplishments, chased the next goal, and built a career I was incredibly proud of.
And none of that was bad.
The problem was that somewhere in all that achieving, my work started carrying a job it was never supposed to have: proving my worth.
I built Work + Worth because I know what it’s like to intellectually understand that your job doesn’t define you...and still have a disappointing outcome feel a little too personal. To accomplish something big and immediately wonder what’s next. To know you need rest and still feel like you should earn it first.
And I also know that the answer isn’t to stop caring.
I love ambition. I love big goals. I love doing work that matters.
I just believe we can pursue all of those things from a place of knowing we’re already enough, instead of hoping the next accomplishment will finally convince us.
That’s why I created Work + Worth.
Not to make you less ambitious.
Not to make you care less about your career.
But to help you build a relationship with work where you can want more without believing you are less.
Your work can be an important part of your story. It just doesn’t get to decide how much you matter.
Work + Worth is the guide I wish someone had handed me back then: not to want less, but to stop needing the win to feel whole.
